License of ”Hello Nepal” is revoked

Nepal Satellite Telecom Company’s which is owned by Ajayaraj Sumargi license has been revoked. The company is offering ‘Hello Nepal’ brand mobile service.

The company’s license was revoked after the company failed to pay the renewal fee for arrears. The company was still owed Rs 90.95 crore to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority.

The authority had given in Siamese to pay around Rs 200 million for the first installment till August 31. But, he did not pay any arrears.

According to the decision of the board meeting of the authority, the company’s license has been revoked, said spokesperson and director Min Prasad Aryal. He said the letter had been sent to the company with the information that the license had been revoked.

The company was licensed for basic telecommunication services, starting from rural areas in the Midwest and serving in the Far West and West.

The company can now apply for a decision review within 7 days.

This company has a frequency of 5 MHz in 100 bands and 1.8 MHz in 100 bands. The company has not yet reached the urban area by fulfilling the stipulated conditions.

NEA had given all telecommunication service providers deadline till mid-June, demanding payment of arrears as per the directions of the parliamentary committee last April.

However, the company had asked for clarification on July 7 after the company did not clear the arrears. The company replied that the payment could be made only if it was allowed to extend service in Kathmandu.

The board meeting of the Authority on July 3 had given a deadline of 3 days for the last time.

Authorities have also informed that Internet service provider iTel Communication, the web surfer’s license, has also been revoked.
